Assistant Director
The Assistant Director is a full-time academic professional position that reports to the Assistant Chancellor and Director. The person is primarily responsible for managing the affirmative action compliance program development, implementation, and process. This position is a full-time, twelve-month academic professional position.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for coordinating the development of affirmative action compliance programs, including the collection and analysis of data, the maintenance of records and the preparation and submission of required internal and external reports.
- Responsible for managing the employment search process for faculty and academic professionals. Assist College EEO Officers, Department EEO Officers and Search Committees with AA/EEO issues, goal setting, campus outreach and recruitment efforts to diversify the campus community. Responsible for the Academic Applicant Flow Database which contains information by position description, applicants, finalists and appointees. This information is available exclusively in the Office of Equal Opportunity & Access.
- Responsible for developing and implementing workshops on compliance plans, recruitment, searches and diversity issues.
- Responsible for the preparation of research and statistical analysis of affirmative action issues as requested by the Chancellor, Provost, college administrators, University, State and Federal agencies.
- Respond in a timely and flexible manner to a wide range of ad hoc reports.
- Assist in developing training modules and presentations for students, faculty and staff on issues of diversity and equal opportunity in the University setting.
- Prepare, edit and publish reports, fliers, posters, newsletters, brochures and pamphlets.
- Represent OEOA in various meetings relating to EO/AA matters. Assist campus and community groups with special projects.
- Assist in researching and developing grant proposals.
- Stay abreast of Federal and State laws and regulations concerning equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, and university employment policies and procedures for allfaculty, staff and academic professional employees.
- Provide general professional support to the Director.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Three years experience in developing affirmative action programs. Hands-on experience with AAP software required. Demonstrated knowledge of applicable AA/EEO laws, regulations and principles. Professional experience and knowledge of the search process for academic and non-academic appointments conducted in a university setting. Strong written and oral communication skills. Proficiency on a PC. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and perform professionally under adverse circumstances. Preferred qualifications: Master’s or equivalent degree, or professional degree in a related field. Experience in developing affirmative action programs in a university setting. Experience with PeopleClick.
Salary is commensurate experience and qualifications. Proposed starting date is as soon as possible after closing date.
