Guanabee’s editors scorch Beyoncé for telling Latina.com she wishes she was born Latina. Retorts Guanabee: “Beyoncé, are you sure you want to be part of a culture that keeps pots and pans in the oven, shares a bed with family members at any age and eats so much rice and beans that our thighs rub together by the time we’re nine?”
Another newsy morsel features Ecuadorian court interpreter Jorge Freire of New York, who has invented a board game called “The Illegal Game.”
Players assume the role of an undocumented immigrant working his way through the Big Apple’s boroughs to the American Dream of a retirement pension. One of the cards reads, “Your sister steals $10,000 from you.” The obstacles are deportation or jail. Freire says the game is based on what’s he’s seen in court.
