Guitar rhythms uphold beat of ‘Levanto’

Time to get out your castanets, as Calo Flamenco presents Levanto, an original, stunning, Broadway-style dance show choreographed by Martín Gaxiola. While his troupe members handle the furious footwork, the musical spine is brilliantly played by Chris Burton Jácome, who has released the CD Flamenco. One piece, Motivación, finished in the top 10 out of 25,000 entries for the World Music Category of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in 2002. Levanto can be seen at 3 and 8 p.m. Nov. 3 at Chandler Center for the Arts.
