Soy de aquí, pero voy Allá

Allá’s Es Tiempo is the vision of Jorge Ledezma, his brother Angel, and front singer Lupe Martinez, all Mexican Americans living in Chicago. The trio say they wanted to create a sound inspired by, and paying homage to their Mexican heritage. What they have birthed is very Mexican – yet nothing Mexican – and in sum, very Mexican American. The group traveled the planet, joining with their international musician amigos and using an array of studios to create their unconventional music. The tracks blend South American Tropicália, mariachi violins, and classic 70s psychedelia, creating dreamy soundscapes and hypnotic instrumentation, complemented by Martinez’s languid Spanish lyrics of love, cultural awakening, and universal brotherhood. Es Tiempo is definitely worth a listen, if only to plug into the past, present and future of being Mexican American.
