Poking fun at AZ politicos
Political pundit Will Rogers said.“There’s no trick to being a humorist when you have the whole government working for you.”
Political pundit Will Rogers said (more than once), "There’s no trick to being a humorist when you have the whole government working for you."
That’d be a double ditto with the three-ring circus called the Arizona State Legislature.
Phoenix’s own Will Rogers is lobbyist Stan Barnes, founder/editor of West Washington, a biweekly newsletter.
Politicophiles of all persuasions are anteing up the $179 yearly subscription price to get the inside poop on AZ’s Keystone-coppish crew of lawmakers. He and his staff at Copper State Consulting Group skewer Republicans and Democrats alike.
The May 5 edition was headlined, "Keep the Dream Alive: A Day Without a Legislator.
Digging into its gossipy nuggets, we taxpayers learn that when Legislators stampeded to the Capitol grill on May 1, there was no salad and no lunch special. All the "help" was marching.
In the June 2 edition, a profile of Democrat Rep. Robert Meza is headlined, "Robert Meza: Spiritual…and Cute Too."
Barnes, who much like Will Rogers is witty, folksy, and White, says his reason for creating the magazine was simple: "I got tired of my lobbyist friends constantly pinging me for political intelligence so I thought I’d put it all in a regular newsletter and charge them for it."
