As if the weather isn’t hot enough, Jaime Bayly’s sexy novel, La Mujer de Mi Hermano, steamed up the big screen and now is due to be released July 25 on DVD. Barbara Mori plays the neglected wife who sets in motion a gauntlet of revenge, secrets and despair when she embarks on an illicit affair with her husband’s brother. The film also stars Christian Meier and Manolo Cardona.
The second film to depict the tragic events of Sept. 11 is World Trade Center, a Paramount Pictures production directed by Oliver Stone. The movie stars Michael Peña and Nicolas Cage as New York Port Authority officers Will Jimeno and John McLoughlin, who were among the 20 people pulled alive from the rubble of the WTC. The story follows the two policemen’s families and their rescuers. The film is scheduled to be released nationally Aug. 9.
