Looks cuddly, fights hunger
For the last seven years St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance has offered donors a cuddly way to fight childhood hunger: cute, plush dolls.
Touchdown Turkey, which can be purchased for $20, is the 2007 model, which enables the Food Bank to provide food items to the needy during the holidays and throughout the year.
“As an avid football fan, Touchdown Turkey makes a great gift for business associates as well as family and friends alike,” says Terry Shannon, president and CEO of the Food Bank. “This plush doll is a reminder that a family is enjoying a meal because of generosity.”
The tax-deductible doll sports a football jersey, leather helmet and a special 40th year commemorative tag in honor of the Food Bank’s beginnings. You can order the doll online at www.BuyABird.org or by mail at 2831 N. 31st Ave., Phoenix, 85009, Attn: Buy-A-Bird; or by fax (480) 393-4511.
Speaking of helping the Food Bank, tickets are on sale for the Super Bowl of eating, Taste the NFL XVII, which is set to open at the Phoenix Convention Center Feb. 2. This annual “party with a purpose” raises awareness and funds for the homeless and the hungry through events and programs. For information, visit www.tasteofthenfl.com or call (952) 835-7621.
