Hispanic PR group looks at social media
Staff
Latino public relations professionals and students analyzed the trend of Hispanic PR practitioners increasingly using social media on the Internet to network and connect with new careers. Another focus was Hispanic PR pros placing stories with Latinos in general market media. The Hispanic Public Relations Association conference took place in June at the Alumni Center on the UCLA campus in Westwood, Calif. Among the 60 attendees, 53 percent agreed networking was the way to get recommendations or leads for employment. Of those, 47 percent agreed that social media was the way to increase job leads and networking opportunities, citing Facebook and Linked In as sites where they have a professional profile. About 85 percent noted being a bilingual Latino as a helping factor in their current employment. For more, visit www.hpra-usa.org.
