Distinguished teacher of the year

James Sousa, a residential faculty member in the Phoenix College Mathematics Department, has been awarded the 2007-2008 Distinguished Teaching Award for his sustained contributions to the college and its students. Sousa received a plaque and a trip to a professional conference or seminar to provide the opportunity to share his methods and techniques with other faculty. In addition, he was awarded a $250 scholarship in his name to give to a deserving student of his choice. Sousa has been part of the Phoenix College community for almost six years, teaching upper and lower division math courses.
