Starr of her special quinceañera

The traditional quinceañera. A day filled with gowns, dancing – and body slams. No, we’re not talking about what happens when Tio Chuy gets a little out of hand at the end of the night. For one lucky teen, wrestling was very much part of her marking her coming of age. Starr (yes, one name) of Van Nuys, Calif., was named winner of the “Ultimate Raw-themed Quinceañera,” a contest co-sponsored by World Wrestling Entertainment and mun2. mun2 is a multiplatform network that offers bilingual entertainment for young U.S. Latinos.

Starr beat out about 10,000 other entries to win the celebration for 50 of her closest friends. Starr, whose parents (from Guatemala and El Salvador) consider her a “bright hope,” does more than just cheer for wrestlers. She also volunteers every Wednesday to feed the homeless. “It’s breathtaking to think she’ll be able to come out in her dress and express herself, to stand up and say, ‘I’m now a young lady,’” mom Sulma said before the party. The celebration included a limousine, entertainment and a special appearance by Raw Superstars Carlito and Melina. mun2 on-air hosts Yasmin Deliz and Frankie Needles played co-hosts and DJ. mun2 cameras were there to document the party – from the grand entrance to the baile sorpresa.
