How we call
Most households in the Phoenix area have at least two cell phones, but 81 percent of those told WestGroup Research Inc. they were unlikely to quit their land lines, according to a recent survey. WestGroup Research Inc. surveyed 404 residents by random telephone calls in January.
The survey did not specify for Latinos, but a March 2007 Pew Hispanic Center study shows that 59 percent of Latino adults have a cell phone and 49 percent of Latino cell phone users text-message on their phone. The Pew study, titled Latinos Online, also reported that Latinos use their cell phones to connect to the Internet.
In other WestGroup results, 30 percent of respondents said there was only one cell phone in their household, while 44 percent said they had two and 26 percent said three or more. Twenty-four percent said their kids also had cell phones. Only 31 percent of cell phone users use the text-messaging feature. Only 15 percent of those surveyed use voice-over-Internet protocol service.
